The most important thing this experiences have done is change the way I think about myself. They have empowered me to believe in me. Picking up and leaving everything behind to live in a foreign country by myself was completely frightening, every time I did it. Picking up and leaving the secure job I had to travel the world, do things that make me happy and following my dreams, was one of the most daunting decisions I have ever made. But, experiencing that fear of diving head first into the unknown helped me gain confidence and motivated me to start a new beginning, over and over again. – Joy Medos
Hi and welcome! My name is Joy and I am a dynamic leadership coach who likes to blend powerful, challenging coaching with my warm engaging style to empower leaders to overcome challenges, and to find fulfilment in their careers and lives. Clients say I bring both energy and intuition to my work, find me trustworthy and easy to talk to. They have described my coaching style as engaging, powerful, positive, challenging, rigorous and full of enthusiasm.
Following my passion for business and leadership, I have studied Business Administration, participated in two leadership development programs, one of which at the Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands. So far I am fluent in seven languages (Slovenian, English, Italian, German, Spanish, Croatian, Serbian), some of which I have learned while living in four different countries (Slovenia, Austria, Spain and the Netherlands). In addition I speak a bit of Dutch and French. My passion for travel and my curiosity for people and cultures led me on a six month world trip by myself. I found all aspects of my strength in-between being stranded on an island in South Pacific, camping in Antarctica and getting lost in the mountains of Patagonia.
With over 15 years’ experience working in the corporate world, six of which were at an executive level, I bring to the table extensive business and leadership knowledge and experience. As CEO I had overall responsibility for all aspects of the organisations I led, including strategy, finance, sales, marketing, operations, HR and more. At the age of 31 I led a 600mln EUR business, and a year later became the youngest CEO, the Dutch company SHV, had.
During my business career in the Oil & Gas industry, I experienced many of the professional and personal successes, opportunities, accomplishments, challenges, fears and set-backs my clients are facing today; just about anything and everything imaginable in a career and work environment. I understand the impact, both positive and negative, this can have on one’s personal life. To maximise results and personal fulfilment for my clients, I use my career and life experience on top of the extensive coaching training I have received.
Holding a professional coaching qualification from The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) in London, I am on the way to be accredited by the ICF – the leading standards and accreditation body for coaches worldwide. CTI is one of a select group of coach training schools in the UK that is accredited with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
I work with individuals as both a personal and leadership coach as the two often intertwine. In this way I help my clients make a leap, personally and professionally.
